Tiles is an innovative, adaptive tiling system with a high-gloss concrete surface. The numerous repetitions of simple geometric shapes make it possible to create many different patterns and systems with just one reusable tool. Thin plastic sheets are heated and pulled with vacuum over a positive mold, which consists of individual and ever repeating steel blocks of the same type, which can be arranged in many different ways.
Deep drawing, also called vacuum forming, is mainly used in plastic packaging production or in the production of lightweight plastic parts. This technique was used to produce stable molds for concrete tiles. The negative plastic molds are filled with ultra fine, high-performance concrete and are later demolded. Due to the adjustable intensity of the vacuum, a variety of interesting effects can be achieved. The special concrete adopts the properies of texture of its casting mold. This results in a high-gloss finish. And makes no furthersurface treatment necessary.
